Mission and Vision

During the mini DTS 2020 (2 weeks in the summer) God spoke to me through an image about giving up everything and following him. After a search of what exactly this would mean for me, I took the step to do a DTS in April 2019. For me, this meant giving up the safety and security of a home and a steady job. The DTS is an experience I would never have wanted to miss in my life. During the DTS, I was able to learn a lot about being God’s son.

I also discovered a lot about who I really am and what gifts and talents He has given to me. It was during a week dedicated to missions that my passion for the lost world was ignited. At the end of the week, we had to draw a picture of what we would see ourselves doing 10 years from now.

As I asked God this question, I saw the image of a road. I stood beside the side of the road. On the road young people were walking and when they had walked past me, they suddenly had a crown on their heads. Over time, this image expanded into the following mission: my mission is to go out to people and share life together. To discover together who we are in Christ.

To discover together how we may live as sons and daughters of the Most High King. So that we can begin to walk in our full potential. Maybe you are asking yourself, “but you can do that everywhere, then why exactly within Youth With A Mission Heidebeek?”. That is a good question. From the moment I arrived at Heidebeek I felt very much at home and knew I would not let go of this place just like that.

When I was asked after the DTS by Heidebeek if I wanted to become a staff member, it was a confirmation that I was not finished at Heidebeek. In the time that followed, I often doubted whether it was really the place where God wanted me to be. But each time I felt deep inside that I shouldn’t let go. Every time I doubted and went to God with my doubts, I received a tremendous deep inner peace. I am very much looking forward to what God wants to do in and through my life in the coming years.
